EDC has re-opened the application round for Preferred Providers of software talent. Preferred Providers are education programs recognized by employers for their alignment with industry skills requirements for entry-level positions and internships. Preferred Providers help address talent shortages while increasing diversity in high-demand jobs. The Preferred Provider network serves as a resource for employers to better understand the breadth of top-quality training delivered by San Diego higher education providers. 

The Preferred Provider designation is offered at two levels, full and partial. The only difference is the breadth and depth of training provided to students, as reflected in the skills requirements section of the application. View the skills requirements for both full and partial here.

1. Preferred Provider (full) – Program prepares students for entry-level software engineering jobs.
   1. 13 technical skills required
2. Preferred Provider (partial) – Program prepares students for software engineering internships.
   1. 5 technical skills required

• Course alignment with employer-defined skills requirements for:
  • Entry-level software talent (full designation) or
  • Software interns (partial designation)
• Practical application of skills
• Diversity & inclusion, including demonstrated ability to reach and serve a diverse student body
• History of employer engagement
